The Penguin Birthday Poem

A candle glows across the snow,
Casting a bright and frosty glow,
On the front of an igloo, snow packed tight,
To keep its penguin warm at night.
Inside the igloo, smells waft and bake,
Scents of lemon, fish, and birthday cake.

Penguin

Icebirdies that live in the ice and snow,
Where the temperature drops to a zillion below,
Making snowcones to eat at night,
And having a very fun snowball fight.

The Blooms

Three little baby blooms,
Buds no longer,
Three baby blossom blooms,
Streaching up toward the sky.
Three baby budding blooms,
Streaching and smiling,
Three baby bouncing blooms,
Floating to the sky.
Petals soft as clouds,
Blue as wild blue yonder,
My baby blossom blooms,
Touches of nature,
Erupting with fragrence.

Twilight Fingers

Twilight touches the earth,
Just lightly,
Like a stroke of watercolor paint,
Orange, pink, purple, a dab of blue,
Even brown,
Sits for a while,
And then moves on,
Just in time for dusky night to cover the earth,
Just in time,
It’s night’s turn to touch down,
Night’s turn to rest.

Tulips

Tulips of tickle-me pink,
Tulips tall and hollow,
Mingled in the mist and green,
Those are the clouds in the skies,
Those are the light in the stars,
Those are the chocolate in chocolate pudding,
Hollow and tall with petals softer than clouds,
The world just wouldn’t be quite the same,
Without the extra tickle-me-pink tulip pleasure,
Without the clouds,
Without starlight,
Without the thick chocolate,
Without the tulips,
Just a bit more pleasure,
Taking somthing or other away from the world,
Can make something else leave,
Something like tulips.

Mothers Day

Filed under: Poetry — julie @ 12:44 pm

Three pink tiny tulips,
Three pink tiny goblets,
Drinking up the sparkling dew,
Drinking up the sparkling dew and fresh rain,
From their pink tiny goblets.
Three pink tiny tulips,
Three pink healthy tulips,
Three pink dainty tulips,
Three pink fresh tulips,
Three pink tink optimistic tulips,
Drinking up the sparkling dew,
Drinking up the sparkling dew and fresh rain
Drinking up the sparkling dew and fresh rain and yellow sunshine,
From their pink tiny goblets.
Three pink tiny tulips,
Three pink tiny goblets,
Growing in a pink, tiny, healthy, dainty, fresh, tiny, optimistic bunch.

Jellybeans

Filed under: Poetry — julie @ 12:22 pm

Six tasty jellybeans smiled at me,
Penny by penny by penny,
Finally I had those six tasty jellybeans,
Plus a sweet-tart,
And two blue gumballs,
And five friendship bracelets,
Minus 25 cents.
Off with the handful of candy,
On with the handful of bracelets,
On with the happy face,
So happy I’d put my pennies in the goody machine,
Happy I’d tried my luck for those six tasty jellybeans.
